American Express Awards for Best Small Guesthouse in South Africa: Winner 2006 and 2007
The sweetest collection of cottages in the Cape Winelands...they renovated sublimely, creating the best little nest, the sweetest little hideaway in a place awash with wonderful places to stay. Breakfast should be declared a national monument, for its rare that finer can be found even in pricey five star follies. Its served beneath a pergola entwined with grapevines, at sun dappled marble tables
Chosen as the best honeymoon rooms in the winelands...elegant simplicity inside, an exceptional garden outside
Dans le village, l'un des plus jolis jardins
In one of the most beautiful valleys in the world visitors to Franschhoek enjoy a great choice of place to stay. With the new offering of the Akademie Street Guesthouses there waits an exceptional experience - from Gelatenheid (Equanimity) to Oortuiging (Conviction). Arthur and Kathy Mc William Smith's collection is rich in atmosphere, luxury, peace and privacy
Gelatenheid is cut out for the connoisseur who wants something luxurious but very individual. It is the ideal hiding place for the traveler who is no longer impressed with 5 star hotels
The cool restfulness of the houses with their attractive gardens full of herbs and shrubs and a peaceful fountain
Tasteful, tranquil and unpretentious, the three guesthouses are all set on one gorgeous property, but each has its own unique character (and private swimming pool)
To sleep in Gelatenheid is a little bit like sleeping in an art gallery - Luxurious finishes, space and comfort laid down by an artistic hand
There are a myriad guesthouses and B&B's, but I've found the best. It consists of three separate little houses together known as the Akademie Street Guesthouses. I want to live there and grow lemon trees amid the poppies and make wine.
